This dialog box - in it's current state - works just fine if you use it for that once a year vacation... For users on the move, people who are OO 3-4 times a month, ability to "schedule" OO is a must.
Here is a recommendation. (Thanks, Sid, for the screen design)
It takes one thing off the checklist before one shuts the laptop before heading out of office.

Absolutely must have feature, wonder how they actually missed this. But this feature is infact available, but it is buried two clicks away.
Click New Rule -> Advaneced and then there's the option :)
The feature is not available :)
The rules kick in only after you mark yourselves as out of office.
The scheduler that I am propposing is to mark yourselves as out of office.
Grrr one more new feature addition. Dont like it. Whats the pain point here?
I either say i'm in office or not. Thats simple. Scheduling for not being in the office - i dont know how that is going to help the frequent traveler here. The effort is actually more (selection of dates and time etc). Its also a starting point of other problems. Like i schedule for a date and i forget about it but i'm not really out, but i forget/late to change it, people getting mails saying u r out etc etc. Then the question asking will be how to handle this situation?
I would like to keep it simple. Just mark i'm out when i go out, and marking In is simple as its by a prompt by outlook whenever I login next.
Well, the pain point here is that you have to "remember" to turn the OO on just before you leave.
If you know well in advance, that you are going to be out, just makes sense to be able to schedule it as well.
Infact, the thought process that I have is, the scheduling of the OO should be a part of setting up or accepting that appoinment.

Exactly thats where you have put in that feature which is far more easier to track and remember.
When u accept/create a calendar appointment just give a option for the user to say "mark me out of office for this period". so that all his schedules are at one place.
something more closer to the "recurrence" feature when setting up meetings would be good
