I wanted to take a printout of one picture from a folder containing six pictures. So I right clicked on a picture, selected print from the menu and photo printing wizard launched. All the pictures of the folder were shown and that particular picture was checked as selected (as shown in the figure). It’s a good idea to show all the pictures of the folder in the photo printing wizard as a user has the option from the wizard to print other pictures of the folder. But I think the only thing missing was the filename below the thumbnail view of each picture. This would be great help so that a user could easily locate the exact file.
The next time I tried to print multiple pictures; I saw the print wizard window with the selected pictures rather than all the pictures of that folder.
Hmmm…now that’s what I call “Inconsistency”!!

Filename makes a ton of a difference, especially to advanced users or prolific clickers.
I usually have 5-6 photos taken within a spam of 2-3 seconds. So more often than not, I know the filename I am printing as difference is barely visible in thumbnails.
Now going by that methaphor and being the devil's advocate, in this case, user has already picked the photo - so filename not needed. He is going to pick another photo - uses thumbnail - again filename not needed - what do you say?
Well this is interesting, but I somehow think that the filename is very important (think about someone color blind) especially considering that you are choosing this out of the thumbnail in the print window where again there is no file name.
Checked this in Vista too and in vista I dont get the filename too, but the interesting part is that I never get the option to print other pictures in the same folder :)
@Sunil: I agree that user would know the filename of the picture for which he launched the print wizard. But to select&print other picture from the bunch of similar pictures, filename is required. So filename would help user to select the right picture from the thumbnail(small) view.
What is the logic behind not showing the other pictures when some of them are multiple selected?? Funny...:-)
@Upma, Looks like yout primary task is being handled.
The interface seems to be alluding to a secondary workflow but is not as usable.
