Sigh-n

P1040861

Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam.

Departure signage listing the departure time, flight numbers, destinations and gate numbers...sorted on ...uh....departure time.

Imagine trying to find out what time the delayed flight to Seattle leaves.

They might as well sort it on gate number, it will require a part table scan anyway...

Sorting the table by gate number may not work, as most of the time people don't know this information off hand.

Maybe group flights by airline name, so it makes it easier for users to search ?

@Vinodh: OK, the sorting on gate number was me being sarcastic :)

The list should ideally be sorted either on flight number or destination as those two attributes DO NOT CHNAGE.

Between the two, people generally do not remember their flight numbers but never forget their destinations.

Hence the list has to be sorted on destination

I experienced this when i was traveling to Denver from Bangalore in British Airways. I had exactly 55 minutes to catch my flight and I had to run form Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 on Heathrow Airport.
Well yes I did miss my flight and I got my new itinerary from London to SFO to Denver.

Well the flight was delayed and I remember scanning all BA-xxx flight numbers because Gate numbers are assigned only an hour earlier.

But on the contrary, I remember on one of my trips within the US, on Dallas International Airport, I saw about 12 different screens for 12 national different carriers and finding my flight was easy! But the space it occupied!!!

Sorting by Gate Numbers not sure, but yeah having the flight number column or destination next to the time would definitely help.
